Week 1  Let’s Get These Holidays Started!

Monday 26th July 2010 1st Day - Party

Bring it on… we will start the holidays with a party day where we will play lots of games such as pass the parcel, Piñata and musical chairs. Burn off some holiday energy in Bridgford Park and then back to base to create your own dance to entertain your friends after your party tea.
 

Tuesday 27th July 2010 Flick Day

Enjoy drawing characters from your favourite cartoon or film, make fingers puppets and act out the film with your friends. Eat popcorn whilst watching ‘Toy Story 3’ or ‘Shrek Forever After’ at the cinema.
 

Wednesday 28th July 2010 Messy Day and Funky Pots

Come feeling creative with plenty of ideas of what you would like to make. Start with a trip out to Funky Potts where you can create your own colourful souvenir to take home.  Back at base we will provide a large variety of materials available such as CLAY, MOD ROCK, SALT DOUGH and PAPER MACHE for you to create masterpieces. Remember to come prepared wearing OLD CLOTHES!
 

Thursday 29th July 2010 Colour Day

Come dressed in your favourite colour and join in with a day full of colours. Colour experiments, floating oil pictures and paint mixing.
View the spectrum of colours in ‘Helen’s Room’ and take part in the many multi sensory activities.
 

Friday 30th July 2010 Seaside Day

We can’t guarantee the weather, but we will still take pleasure in making sand castles and water fun! Fish, chips and mushy peas for lunch and create your own ice-cream sundae’s with tea.
Take part in beach games and enjoy bouncing on the Bouncy Castle.

Monday 2nd August 2010 Way Up There?

Let’s use a bit of Science, lots of materials and massive amounts of creative talent to think of the things that go up in the air. Help build models and work together to create a masterpiece. Experiments include – Mentos Geyser, Blowing Up Balloons, Warm and Cold Air and Make a Parachute.
 

Tuesday 3rd August 2010 Back To Front Day

Today we will be doing everything the wrong way round. Have breakfast for tea and tea for breakfast, wear your clothes back to front and try your hand at writing your name backwards and with the wrong hand. Work using a mirror writing backwards and drawing simple pictures without looking.
 

Wednesday 4th August 2010 Lark in the Park

This year the theme for Lark in the Park is ‘Our Place’, the campaign puts children at the heart of our communities, & asks everyone, to help create better places for all of us to live & play. The day will be filled with activities to celebrate Nottinghamshire icon Robin Hood, we will join in with pageantry, street theatre and craft activities all dedicated to the noble outlaw. The National Play Day runs every year & always proves to be a great day - fingers crossed for good weather.
 

Thursday 5th August 2010 Robin Hood Festival

Visit Sherwood Forest where we can see a colourful celebration of the life & times of the world's most famous outlaw - Robin Hood. The fun-packed event takes place in and around the Visitor Centre, located near the historic village of Edwinstowe in North Nottinghamshire.  Meet costumed characters from the days of Robin Hood, from jugglers & jesters to medieval doctors & rat catchers. Browse the stalls & watch medieval craftsmen at work.


Friday 6th August 2010 Robin Hood Day

Following on from yesterday’s trip we will enjoy a fun Robin Hood themed day –
Activities - Making a Herald Horn, Master of Disguise, Forest Hide out, Hat making, Tagged by The Sherriff, Steal Taxes, Tax Collecting & Target Practise. 
Foods - Chicken legs, apple juice, mini loaves of bread, fruit.


Week 3  All Sorts!

Monday 9th August 2010 Straw Day (Yes you read it correctly!)

There are so many activities we can do with the simple straw. We will of course use them to drink with after making our home made smoothies and milkshakes but also pictures, picture frames, sculptures and funky jewellery!
 

Tuesday 10th August 2010 Trip to Newstead Abbey

Newstead Abbey, a beautiful historic house set in glorious grounds with gardens and park land within the heart of Nottinghamshire. We will explore Newstead Abbey's landscape which owes much of its beauty to the River Leen, which feeds the lakes, ponds and cascades that ornament Newstead's gardens and have a picnic lunch weather permitting.
 

Wednesday 11th August 2010 Magic Day

Learn tricks such as Coin behind the ear, Missing Ball, and Card Tricks; prepare to wow the pre-school children when you show them later. Trip out to West Bridgford Park for ball games, cricket or rounders. Make a magic wallet, learn mathemagic and enjoy some powerful potion.
 

Thursday 12th August 2010 The White House OOSC Fayre

We will need to work very hard setting up our stalls, with banners and signs.
Stalls will include Guess the Name, How Many Sweets, Hook a Duck, Wet Sponge Throwing and Hoopla.
Lots of prizes to be won!

Friday 13th August 2010 Trip to Conkers

Back by popular demand – CONKERS, the award winning attraction found in the heart of the National Forest, a unique mix of indoor and outdoor experiences to keep the children engaged for hours. Indoors there are four discovery zones designed for children and adults of all ages, which also includes - the Enchanted Forest Adventure, Play area, a simulated Tree Top Walk – a moving bridge through the skies.

Week 4 Fun Week!!

Monday 16th August 2010 Picnic at Wollaton Park

Join us for a picnic at Wollaton Park.  The Natural History Museum is located in the hall and has an array of specimens and minerals. On display are some of the three quarters of a million specimens in geology, botany and zoology that make up the Nottingham's natural history collections. We will also tour the grounds, play games and feed the ducks, swans and geese.
 

Tuesday 17th August 2010 Tour of Trent Arena

Today we are off for a guided tour of the Trent FM Arena and National Ice Centre. We shall have access to all areas even the V.I.P area. With a capacity of 10,000 there is nowhere quite like the Trent FM Arena; we will see where the likes of Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Oasis, Bob Dylan, Green Day or Usher perform on stage to sell out crowds.
 

Wednesday 18th August 2010 Talent Day

You’ve loved the singing programmes and tried out your moves to the dance TV shows. Do you have a talent? Would you like to give something new a try? Then here comes our very first all-singing-all-dancing show. We are searching for the OOSC’s greatest performance to take part in our live entertainment spectacular show in the afternoon. Bring in any props required or make them using our resources.
 

Thursday 19th August 2010 A Trip to Markeaton Park

Markeaton Park has over 207 acres of park land to explore and is one of Derby’s largest parks. Facilities available are – Donkey Rides -there is special sanded enclosure where we ride on donkeys. Mundy Express - runs from the Mundy play centre and covers the full length of park. Crazy Golf – An 18 hole course with tunnels, mad corners, and jumps to knock the ball over. The Adventure Playground - has two main play ground areas, in the main area is a large rope tower for older users & adventure play structure for younger users, the other area has the more traditional swings, seesaw and a roundabout. Large Paddling Pool - The huge paddling pool is fairly shallow and ideal for children; it also has 3 fountains which provide a lot of fun. The Miniature Railway - We can catch the train back over to other side of the park.


Friday 20th August 2010 Cup Cakes

Howard Norwood will be demonstrating his cooking talents to us all. He will be helping us to create our very own cup cakes. Once cooked and cooled we will be decorating them using a selection of yummy toppings! Don’t tell Nic we are making cakes or she will be taste testing them. 

Week 5 Tasting Around The World

Monday 23rd August 2010 Australia Day

G’day you Pommies! It’s long trip down under but once there we’ll learn some Australian lingo, make our own Boomerangs, Cork Hat, Kangaroo and Koala masks and whacky Dame Edna Everage style Glasses.
Join in with some Bush Tucker Trials if you dare!
 

Tuesday 24th August 2010 USA Day

We are already in the White House (tee hee) and there are lots of creative activities such as making a USA handprint Wreath, flag making, crosswords, Uncle Sam Doorknob Hangers and making our own burgers to have with fries at tea time. 
 

Wednesday 25th August 2010
England Day – Trip to Gulliver’s Kingdom

We’re off on a full day’s trip to Matlock Bath.
A magical theme park set on the picturesque hillside, with breathtaking views of Matlock Bath and the Derbyshire Dales.
There is Western World, Fantasy Terrace, Party House, Lilliput Land, Dinosaur Kingdom to name but a few of the exciting places to see!!
 

Thursday 26th August 2010 France Day

Ooo La La! Lets learn some simple phrases and look at the different foods that are eaten - try them out in our food tasting activity. Have you tried Frogs Legs before? Learn how to play French Boules who will be the champion.


Friday 27th August 2010 Italy Day

Have you ever made Pasta from scratch? We will also be making our own Ragu Sauce for tea. Mmm...what’s your favourite Pizza topping? Create your favourite pizza using a variety of ingredients.  We will be creating the Italian flag and explore the Italian language practicing some simple words.

Tuesday 31st August 2010 Mini Beasts & Rushcliffe Country Park

We’ll be on the look out for any mini beasts in our garden and making temporary homes for them. We will look at them closely. We shall continue our search at Rushcliffe Country Park where we will also have fun playing on some of the following equipment.

Wednesday 1st September 2010 Crafty Creations

We will have a large selection of everyday objects such as – Wooden Pegs, Cotton buds, Paper plates, Coloured Sand, Rubber Gloves, sponges, shiny paper and string. What can you make out of them, let your imagination go wild.
 

Thursday 2nd September 2010 Trip to Twinlakes

We love it here it’s always a great day out whatever the weather, plenty of indoor and out door activities such as the great
Adventure Park, Go-Karts and Castles and the Huge Indoor Soft Play and rides.


Friday 3rd September 2010 The End Is Finally Upon Us!

Well today we will do what we do best which is PARTY!!
Bring in your party clothes; blow up balloons, lovely party buffet and fruity cocktails. Join in great dancing to your favourite music.
